Diesel bug removal

Fuel polishing

Fuel polishing is the cleaning of your boats fuel. Diesel fuel is susceptible to something called diesel bug. The term “Diesel bug” is given to the build of slime that occurs overtime in your fuel tank. The bug is a microorganism that is caused by air in your diesel tank.

The air contains moisture that turn in water droplets, these water droplets fall into your fuel and because water is heavier than that your fuel, they drop to the bottom of your tank and begin to build up. Our fuel polishing service will filter this dirt and diesel bug, separating it and cleaning your fuel and tank!

Diesel bugs are microbes and as such, they’re all around us in our atmosphere. As with all living organisms, water is their key ingredient to surviving. As stated above – when there is air in your diesel tank, water is present (all air contains water vapours), they condense and end up in your diesel tank.

These droplets will drop into your diesel and sink because water is heavier than diesel – it then builds up!

Without polishing your fuel the bug can cause several outcomes including:

  • Reduced power and misfiring of your boats engine
  • Blocked fuel filters resulting in frequent costly replacements and repairs
  • Wear and tear on your boat engines moving parts and gaskets etc

How will Fuel polishing rid my fuel of diesel bug?

The fuel polishing process can be broken down into stages. It is important to note that Bio Clean Jetting uses very expensive, professional equipment. We use the finest filters, ensuring that your fuel is cleaned and even the tiniest traces of dirt are removed. We also use the most powerful pumps available. Not all fuel cleaning companies are equal – we are happy to prove to you that our services are second to none.

Your fuel is polished in this three stage process:

  1. The first stage: First we extract your diesel from your fuel tank. Our equipment will first remove large solids (dirt, microbes and rust). These are heavier than diesel and fall to the very bottom of the collection bowl.
  2. Second stage: Smaller water droplets will form towards the top of our filter. When they have formed and become heavy enough, they will also drop to the bottom of the collection bowl.
  3. Final stage:: This is the filtration stage. The filters will repel water, remove the pollutants and impurities and thus your fuel is separated and cleaned!

Having dirt form and sludge build up is never good for your boat or your boats engine and it can impact on the useful life of your boat including its performance and reliability.

Diesel bugs are removed, removing even the tiniest amounts of dirt and bugs.
